FileBack PC 4.0 Main Screen, Events Page
Events in FileBack PC are a combination of a triggering event, and
actions to perform in response to that trigger. Many different
triggering events and actions are available and can be tied together in
any way you would like. For example, you can use the schedule
trigger to start a backup group every Friday evening. Or you could
FileBack PC start a backup when you connect a removable drive to the
computer. There is a great deal of flexibility available.
- Create a schedule to run a backup group: Create a
New event trigger, selecting Scheduled Event as the
event type. The Schedule
Editor will appear, allowing the schedule to be created.
After clicking OK, click the Add button to add a new
action, and select Backup Group as the action type.
Select the groups to run whenever the schedule occurs.

a New event trigger, selecting Scheduled Event as
the event type. Set the schedule in the

will appear under the Change button allowing the disk to
be identified by Drive Letter, Disk Volume Label,

Any of the above triggers can be used for an event, whether that
particular trigger is somehow related to the actions that are performed
or not. FileBack PC allows complete flexibility in this regard.
When you create a new event, you start by selecting the trigger that
initiates the event. When you click on the New button a popup list
showing the available triggering events. The event will not be
created until you select the trigger that initiates it. If the
trigger has configurable properties, these will be shown under Eevnt
Properties and Actions / (Type) Event Properties. In
those cases where this configuration requires more information than can
be displayed inside of this small area, either a popup menu or popup
window will appear allowing those properties to be set.
Once an event has been created, the triggering event cannot be
changed. The configurable properties of it can be, however.
For example, if you initially created a event using a Scheduled
trigger, you can't change it to a Low Battery trigger, but you can change the schedule.
Once a triggering event has been selected, you may then add the
actions to perform whenever that trigger is initiated.
* Triggers marked with an asterisk are only available
under Windows 2000/XP/2003 or newer.
** Works on notebook computers, or desktop
computers connected to supported Uninterruptible Power Supplies
Each Event may have any number of actions to perform when the trigger
is initiated. In this way you can create simple scripts of actions
to perform in response to any of the triggering events which are
available. The available actions include:

To add an action to an event, click the Add button and select the
action type to perform. If there are any configurable properties for the
type of action selected, another window will popup allowing these options to be
configured. You may add any number of actions to perform. The order
in which actions are performed can be changed by dragging and dropping actions
within the list.
To change the configurable properties of an action, first click the
action in the Actions to Perform list, and then click the
Settings button. To change the order in which the
actions are performed, drag the action to move in the list using the
mouse. To remove an action from the list, click the action and
click the Remove button.
Actions in a .FBAL file may be
imported by clicking Import (not shown above) and selecting
the file to import. The actions within this file will be added
to the end of the list. An action list can be exported to an
.FBAL file by clicking the drop-down
arrow on the Import button and selecting Export. This
allows action lists to be exchanged or shared with other users or
computers easily.
